Keukenhof was originally an initiative of ten Dutch flower bulb growers and exporters, who wanted to create a showcase for their products. In 1949, they chose the garden surrounding Keukenhof Castle in Lisse as the location. Today, 100 flower bulb growers supply Keukenhof and 500 flower growers participate in the flower shows. More than a million people from all over the world stream in every spring when Keukenhof opens its gates for eight weeks. The time will have come round again on 23.03.2017.
