Premiere at spoga+gafa 2018: Trend Islands for outdoor design

spoga+gafa 2018 is providing a look ahead to the future of outdoor furniture and shading systems. This year an internationally curated trend show will be located for the first time in hall 10.2. The Trend Islands demonstrate the trends of tomorrow in the outdoor design sector.

As the largest garden trade fair in the world, spoga+gafa presents the new products for outdoor living. This year for the first time the trade fair is dedicating a special zone to pioneering trends in the outdoor furniture section. Under the categories Material and Function, currently most important design trends will be visualised, which at the same time stand for different lifestyles. From 2 to 4 September 2018, they will take on the form of two Trend Islands at spoga+gafa. The special area in hall 10.2 will showcase outdoor furniture that displays exquisite design, innovative materials or special functions.

The Trendshow is being curated by selected international industry experts from the sections design, the retail trade, universities and trend research. Jury members are among others Jeannette Altherr from renowned design studio Lievore Altherr from Barcelona and Manuel Rucar from French trend researcher Chlorosphere. They will visualise the trends using products of exhibitors from spoga+gafa.

spoga+gafa is a stage for worldwide product launches. Mega brands and the cult brands of the garden industry presented their soon-to-become icons in Cologne or exhibited them there for the first time. From there they took their path into the gardens, hotel grounds, parks and outdoor food service outlets of the world. A selection of these icons will frame in the new Trend Islands and place them in a temporal context – an emotional journey through the bestselling and most stylish garden furniture of our current and also former exhibitors.
