Konni van Delft was born in North Germany, has however been living in the Netherlands since the mid 1970s. The florist has been working as a freelance visual merchandiser since 1986. She advises garden centre in the Netherlands, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Italy. Sales presentations and cross-selling as well as employee training are her special areas in these sections.

It is hardly believable, but the social megatrends are reflected in all areas of our lives sooner or later. They even have an influence on the fertilisers the retail sector is offering hobby and balcony gardeners. Dr. Arne Hückstädt, speaker for the themes horticulture and environment within the Industrieverband Garten IVG (Garden Industry Association), made this very clear in his lecture in the Garden Café Forum at spoga+gafa last year in Cologne. Growing urbanisation, augmented connectivity between our living environments, neo-ecology, an increased customisation of the individual societies and of the silver society – in other words: the large number of sprightly pensioners – are just some of the developments the industry is having to deal with by adapting its concepts and products.

The master florist from Düsseldorf, Manfred Hoffmann, is a floristic all-rounder. He is employed by the Fachverband Deutscher Floristen (German Trade Association of Florists) as Creative Director and is involved in a wide range of projects: He develops design lines, manages product developments, is involved in the drafting and realisation of trade fair presentations, holds lectures, is the author of various trade publications and takes on an advisory function for many important association issues. In his home town Hoffmann additionally runs two flower shows called “A la Casa del Flore”.
