Gandia Blasco: Two Outdoor Table Designs Awarded

This year Gandia Blasco held its 8th design contest for outdoor furniture. The task: To design a retractable stylish garden table that can be reproduced. All materials except wood were allowed. The contestants were young designers and design students between 18 and 35.

The winners were chosen by a top jury consisting of company president José A. Gandia-Blasco, Vicente Todoli, former director of the Tate Modern Gallery in London, Oliva Arauna, founder of one of Madrid’s most famous art galleries, and other design experts.

Winner of the competition is the Japanese newcomer Naoya Misawa. Her foldable table “Girasol” convinced the jury because of its simple handling and its slick appearance. The second place went to “Clips” by Eloy Quero Olaso from Spain and an honorable mention went to Michele Marin for “Marco 36”.
