“Harmony with the environment”: An interview with Jeannette Altherr

Together with Alberto Lievore, Jeannette Altherr heads one of the most renowned design agencies in Spain. The graduate product and industry designer from Barcelona is a member of the jury for this year’s trend show at spoga+gafa. We talked with her about the various requirements of outdoor design, inspirations from nature and special furniture qualities.

In 2017, the German Landscape Architecture Prize was awarded for the 13th time. First place went to the Rheinboulevard Köln-Deutz, the draft for which was developed by Maik Böhmer’s office Planorama-Landschaftsarchitektur. The jury explained its decision as follows: “This presentation of the river basin in connection with a high quality of stay quickly turned the Rheinboulevard into a crowd-puller.” The project also impressed the jury at the polis award 2017 for urban development and was distinguished in the category “More liveable open spaces”. The prize is conferred in cooperation with the Bundesstiftung Baukultur (German Foundation Building Culture) and the Deutsche Städtetag (German Association of Cities and Towns).

Dieter Gaißmayer is a perennial gardener with heart and soul. He has been running a market garden for 38 years in the small city of Illertissen in Bavaria, which is well-known nationwide. In 2017, the company was awarded the German Horticultural Innovation Prize in the category “Plants”. The jury’s decision was based on the extensive overall assortment of perennials, which contributes towards the preservation of a multitude of selected species and varieties.
