Mediterranean Lifestyle

Each and every five-star hotel in the Kempinski Group has its own unique style. The portfolio embraces city hotels, grand hotels, holiday resorts and residences – particularly in Europe, but also in Africa, the Middle East, Far East and Asia.

Completed in February this year, the Kempinski residences in the Croatian resort of Savudrija are among the most exclusive of their type in the world. Residences are surrounded by luxurious vegetation, and guests have a view of the crystal clear Adriatic Sea. In particular, the outdoor facilities provide unsurpassed comfort, convenience and elegance. The architect Ante Vrban chose furniture from Vondom, of Spain: these were from the Rest Collection, Alma by A-cero, Vertex by Karim Rashid, Llum pot by Studio Vondom, Fiesta by Archirivolto Design and Moma by Javier Mariscal.

Vondom is based in Valencia and exports furniture all over the world. This young, innovative and dynamic manufacturer uses advanced production technology to make furniture from renewable materials. Their motto is: “We work at Vondom to create art; we are always on the lookout for the natural beauty that is embedded in the nature of the respective product.”

Their long list of customers includes other top hotels such Nhow Berlin, Puerta America Madrid, W Hotel Taiwan and Fullerton Singapore.

Resort Le Meridien Koh Samui: Water a Central Design Feature

Anyone passing through the entrance immediately leaves everyday stresses far behind; for the Le Méridien Koh Samui Resort & Spa is located alongside the beautiful, powdery Lamai Beach of Koh Samui — Thailand’s third largest island — where guest embarks upon an inspirational and relaxing journey. The relaxing atmosphere is irresistible, formed by traditional Asian features, combined with simple modernity and supreme comfort.

The hotel architecture and interior design is created by an ensemble of 14 villas with 63 elegant suites, with typical Thai features plus many hints of a history bearing the mark of Chinese tradition and culture. The design is by Khun Jakarin of the well-known Begray Bankkok architectural and design practice. The resort draws inspiration from the typical layout of an Asian village with luxuriant vegetation, trees and flowers, based on Feng Shui principles. This places heavy emphasis on the use of natural materials such as wood, stone and also water, which according to Feng Shui principles, stimulates activity, good luck and wealth. The quadratic open air lobby is dominated by a large pool basin; inside the villas and suites water plays a prominent part with generously proportioned bathing and shower areas, small diving and paddling pools. Pool villas have direct access to the pool, while guests accommodated in the striking ocean front pool villas enjoy a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Thailand.

Water trickles gently down the natural stone, marble and granite walls in the generously proportioned health and spa area. Just one glance is enough to bring on a severe case of relaxation.

Because of the benevolent climate, guests spend most of their time in the open air, there is open transition between the pool villas and the outer areas. The covered sleeping areas are located behind large terraces equipped with outdoor sofas, tables and sunbeds.

One undoubted resort highlight is the 224 metre-long swimming dock linking the beach with the open sea. This is the preferred location for cocktail parties and on request, private candlelit dinners.
