Urban gardening: Do-it-yourself becomes do-it-together

Six or seven years ago there was quite a stir in the press. All of a sudden urban gardening was the major green theme. Activists, who turned wasteland or the rooves of multi-storey car parks into gardens to grow their own salad and keep chickens, became the media’s darlings. Now that the media interest has in the meantime died down somewhat, we wanted to know whether the people are still keen on joint gardening projects in the cities. Was it just a fashion trend or has the movement further developed?

Whether for outdoor lighting, lawn care, the irrigation of garden plants, shading systems for the seating areas or checking the water values in the garden pond – Smart Gardening is currently one of the top themes in the green industry. This is why the special exhibition areas IVG Power Place Battery and Smart Gardening World – that celebrated their premieres last year – are being considerably expanded at the international garden fair spoga+gafa 2018.

Indoor Gardening: Greenery inside one’s own four walls

Those, who don’t want to have to do without gardening even in the winter, can find numerous products for growing plants inside their own four walls today. Every apartment can be turned into a decorative or herb garden with the aid of a mini greenhouse or an illuminated plant shelf. A trend that is in the meantime also expanding to encompass larger cultivated areas.

The best of the best in the green industry were distinguished with the TASPO Awards at a great gala in Berlin end of October 2017. The title “Entrepreneur of the Year” went to the innovative and environmentally-conscious master gardener, Hans Müller, Director of Helix Pflanzen GmbH and Helix Pflanzensysteme GmbH. spoga+gafa is official partner of the TASPO Awards.

Seramis parent company Westland: Enters the German market

As well as the brand name Westland, a clear reference to the trusted consignee, Seramis, will be printed on the product packing. –

Seramis GmbH has belonged to the British company Westland Horticulture since 2014. An own collection is now going to be launched onto the market in the German-speaking zone in 2018 under the brand Westland. It was recently presented at spoga+gafa in Cologne.
