The magazine “Mein schöner Garten” (My beautiful garden) has determined the top 500 garden centres and DIY stores with garden departments and published the results in its May edition. Over 8,800 customer opinions on 2,300 garden centres and DIY stores with garden departments in Germany were collected and evaluated for the purpose. In most of the federal states the owner-run establishments came off best. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the Mencke Garden Centre in Sprockhövel topped the ranks.

The Dutch trend observer Aafje Nijman is primarily interested in flowers, plants and gardens. Together with Anet van Haaster, she runs the agency “Nijman + van Haaster”. Taking trend analyses as the starting point, new concepts are developed here for various national and international actors of the green industry. The best of the best in the green industry were distinguished with the TASPO Awards in 17 categories in total at a big gala in Berlin at the end of October 2017. TASPO is Germany’s magazine for the green market. The spoga+gafa Award “Entrepreneur-run Garden Centre of the Year” went to the family business Löwer.

In the Outdoor Kitchen World of this year’s spoga+gafa, trade visitors were able to inform themselves about the entire spectrum of current offers. In addition to global players and manufacturers of installation grill devices, national manufacturers also presented their products on the theme island in hall 8. Also there was PROKS, an owner-operated manufacturer from the Rhineland. Owner Daniel Müller is a trained carpenter and EDP businessman.
