French trend consultancy Chlorosphere is specialized in the garden, plant, floral, landscape and outdoor sectors. The consultancy’s team is composed of watchmen who scan everything that is new on the market. Manuel Rucar, manager of the company, is jury member for this years trend show at spoga+gafa. We talked with him about the latest trends in outdoor design

“I inherited a good sense of taste and smell,” said Tom Heinzle. The man from Austria was infected with the barbecue bug many years ago: “Winter barbecues”, “Vegetarian barbecues” or “The new smoker kitchen” are just a few of the book titles he has published. Heinzle has additionally proved himself in competitions: With his team from “Tom’s Grillwerkstatt” he has claimed the BBQ Vice World Championship title and Austrian State Championship title several times.

This year’s GardenSummit of the Federal Association of the German DIY, Building and Garden (BHB – Handelsverband Heimwerken, Bauen und Garten e.V.) will be held on 4 and 5 September in the Congress Centre North of Koelnmesse. One of the main themes of the agenda will be the Generation Y and the question as to how one can win them over as customers and employees.

The magazine “Mein schöner Garten” (My beautiful garden) has determined the top 500 garden centres and DIY stores with garden departments and published the results in its May edition. Over 8,800 customer opinions on 2,300 garden centres and DIY stores with garden departments in Germany were collected and evaluated for the purpose. In most of the federal states the owner-run establishments came off best. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the Mencke Garden Centre in Sprockhövel topped the ranks.
